DUI Driver Detained after Minivan Hit by SMART Train on Steele Lane
SANTA ROSA, CA (October 14, 2021) — A DUI driver faces charges after his minivan was hit by a SMART train on Steele Lane near Coffey Lane.
According to reports, the crash happened around 11:04 a.m. For DUI reasons, a 57-year-old Santa Rosa man turned onto Steele Lane from Coffey Lane. Subsequently, the minivan drove into the opposing lane of traffic to go around the crossing arms. However, an oncoming SMART train collided with his vehicle.
Soon after, paramedics responded and found him conscious but not alert. Following the investigation, police officers arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
