Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing into SUV on PCH in Malibu

 
MALIBU, CA (January 3, 2024)Jose Alfonso De Lira Piedra was killed in a motorcycle accident in Malibu Sunday night on December 24.
 
The fatal accident happened around 6:00 p.m. in the 33400 block of Pacific Coast Highway near Decker Road. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, De Lira Piedra was riding his motorcycle when he slammed into a Cadillac Escalade that was backing out of a driveway.
 
The impact caused De Lira Piedra fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was 32 years old from Burbank.
 
The crash shut down a two-and-a-half mile stretch of PCH just south of Leo Carillo State Beach. All lanes were closed between Mulholland Highway and Decker Road.
 
Deputies said it does not appear that excessive speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
