Late Evening Multi-Vehicle Crash on 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Leaves One Driver Dead

 
SHERMAN OAKS, CA (January 3, 2024) – Anibal Rangel died in a multi-vehicle accident in Sherman Oaks late Saturday evening on December 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:30 p.m. on southbound 405 Freeway at Valley Vista Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a vehicle overturning and flipping across all lanes before landing in the sixth lane. Two SUVs and a sedan then also got involved into the crash.
 
As a result of the crash, one of the drivers died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Rangel as the fatal victim. He was 28 years old. His city of residence was not immediately known.
 
It was unclear if there were other injuries sustained in the crash.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
