Pedestrian Dies after Hit by Vehicle on California Avenue at Chester Lane

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 26, 2022) – Jesus Manuel Herrera died in a pedestrian accident in Bakersfield, Tuesday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:39 p.m. on February 22, at California Avenue and Chester Lane. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the 23-year-old victim from Bakersfield was either standing or walking in the area when a vehicle struck him.
 
When police arrived, they found Herrera down in the roadway with severe injuries. Paramedics took him to a Kern Medical, where he died five days later.
 
The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
Police determined that speed, alcohol, and drugs were not contributing factors in the crash. They asked witnesses to call their department at 661-327-7111.
