Hitchhiker Suffers Head Injury after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver at 3rd and R Streets in Eureka

 
EUREKA, CA (February 26, 2022) – A woman suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash at 3rd Street and R Street on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The crash happened around 4:00 p.m. on February 23. According to the California Highway Patrol, the female hitchhiker was attempting to get out of a white Toyota Tacoma when she fell.
 
While the victim was on the ground, the driver reportedly backed over her and fled the scene over Samoa Bridge with the victim’s dog.
 
As a result, the woman suffered a head injury. Responding paramedics rushed her to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
The victim told authorities she did not know the male driver. She also said she believed he was intoxicated.
 
At this time, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
