Jesus Cruz Struck, Killed in Victorville Hit-and-Run Accident
VICTORVILLE, CA (March 18, 2021) — A man was killed in a hit-and-run bicycle accident on Seventh Street near Sand Street Monday, March 9.
According to reports, at approximately 5:46 a.m. that day, deputies and personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a hit and run on Seventh Street near East Sand Street.
Deputies found a pedestrian — identified as 37-year-old Jesus Aguilar Santa Cruz of Victorville — lying on Seventh Street with major injuries. Despite life-saving measures, he died at the scene at 5:51 a.m.
Deputies determined that Cruz had been struck by a vehicle traveling south on Seventh Street. However, the vehicle fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
The Victorville Sheriff’s Station Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene. After that, they took over the investigation.
Officials shared video surveillance images, taken at approximately 5:40 a.m. Monday, that show what appears to be an older model Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck on Seventh Street. In addition, the truck is dark in color, possibly navy blue, and may have front-end damage.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation and no suspects have been identified. However, if anyone has more information, please call the Victorville Police Department at 760-241-2911.
