Police Arrest DUI Driver Tayishe Baltys after Fatally Striking Two Pedestrians in National City

 
NATIONAL CITY, CA (June 27, 2022) – Jessica Talamante and Brian McKee were killed in a DUI crash in National City late Wednesday evening on June 22.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:20 p.m. in the 3100 block of East Plaza Boulevard near Harbison Avenue. According to the National City Police Department, Talamante and McKee were crossing the street near the intersection when a Toyota sedan struck them.
 
When officers arrived, they found both victims lying on the ground. 15-year-old Talamante died at the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed 38-year-old McKee to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he also succumbed to his injuries. He was the boyfriend of Talamante’s mother.
 
Police said the driver, 43-year-old Tayishe Baltys, showed symptoms of being drunk. They arrested her for gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI at $1 million bail.
 
Further investigation is underway.
