Jamie Gatewood Run Over, Killed While Under Blankets in Long Beach Parking Lot

 
LONG BEACH, CA (June 8, 2021) – A woman was struck and killed by a car while lying under a pile of blankets in a parking stall Monday morning, May 31.
 
39-year-old Jamie Gatewood died at the scene. According to police, she was unhoused at the time of the accident.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:42 a.m. in a business parking lot in the 2500 block of Long Beach Boulevard. According to the Long Beach Police Department, a 27-year-old Los Angeles man drove a 2010 Scion XB through the parking lot when he struck Gatewood who was lying on the ground under blankets.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, the LBPD reported.
