CHULA VISTA, CA (November 2, 2021) — A homeless man was hit and injured by a car on Broadway at H Street early Thursday.

According to Chula Vista police Lt. Scott Adkins, the pedestrian crash happened around 5:45 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver, believed to be operating a Dodge Charger, lost control after making a turn onto H Street from southbound Broadway. Subsequently, the vehicle went up the sidewalk and struck a homeless man on the north curb line of the street.

Shortly after, emergency personnel responded and brought the victim to a hospital for a compound fracture to one of his legs. Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police who said alcohol did not play a role in the crash.
