Rider Dies in Long Beach Motorcycle Collision on 405 Freeway

LONG BEACH, CA (November 2, 2021) — A rider died in a motorcycle crash on the 405 Freeway near Cherry Avenue Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle collision occurred around 4:30 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle on the southbound freeway.
 
Shortly after, officials arrived and closed the No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes before reopening them around 7:00 a.m. Tragically, the rider of the motorcycle who remains unidentified died after being pinned underneath a car.
 
At this time, officers have no information as to what led to the accident, or the condition of the driver involved. However, those with information should contact the CHP.
