Person Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway

 
COMMERCE, CA (November 2, 2021) — One person died in a pedestrian crash on the 5 Freeway near Atlantic Boulevard Sunday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident happened around 11:07 p.m. Under unknown circumstances, a driver in a GMC Yukon SUV struck the pedestrian. However, it wasn’t until a second driver in a white Nissan Sentra which ran over the body, as well, that the driver of the GMC informed dispatchers.
 
As a result of the accident, the victim died at the scene. Following the arrival of authorities, CHP issued a SigAlert to shut down the No. 1, 2 and 3 northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway. By 1:30 am, officials lifted the SigAlert, but an ongoing investigation into the details and liabilities continues.
