Passenger Dies after Pickup Truck Overturns on Highway 101 in Goleta

 
GOLETA, CA (May 25, 2023) – Florencio Lagara-Perez was killed in a rollover accident in Goleta Tuesday morning on May 23.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:15 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 at the Fairview Avenue on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1999 Ford Ranger entered the on-ramp when it spun out and rolled over. It then landed on its roof off the right shoulder.
 
Lagara-Perez, a 55-year-old passenger in the car, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a Santa Barbara resident.
 
The driver, a 64-year-old Santa Barbara man, only sustained minor injuries.
 
Both men were reported to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
 
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.
