13-Year-Old Boy Killed, Alexander Oroz Arrested in DUI Crash on North Broadway [Escondido, CA]

Escondido DUI Crash at North Broadway and Country Club Lane Kills Juvenile Passenger

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (April 29, 2024) – A 13-year-old boy was killed in a DUI crash on North Broadway in Escondido Saturday evening on April 27.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 10:00 p.m. at the intersection with Country Club Lane. According to the Escondido Police Department, 20-year-old Alexander Tito Oroz of Escondido was driving a vehicle when he collided with another car.
 
As a result, Oroz, a female occupant and the 13-year-old boy suffered injuries. All were Escondido residents.
 
Paramedics took the boy to Palomar Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Police determined that Oroz was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
 
The child who was killed was a passenger in Oroz’s vehicle, police said.
