50-Year-Old Driver Dies in Big Rig Accident on Highway 198, Passenger in Critical Condition

 
LEMOORE, CA (May 10, 2021) – A field worker was killed in a big rig accident on Highway 198 in Lemoore Thursday afternoon, May 6.
 
The accident happened around 2:47 p.m. near 28th Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, two field workers in a Ford truck were on a dirt road coming from the fields, approaching Highway 198. They pulled out in front of the big rig that was traveling west on the highway. The impact from the crash caused them to be thrown from the truck.
 
The 50-year-old driver was trapped underneath the big rig and died at the scene. His identity was not immediately available.
 
Paramedics airlifted the 55-year-old passenger to the Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno in critical condition.
 
Meanwhile, the big rig driver sustained minor injuries.
 
An investigation into this accident is ongoing.
