Man Dies after Struck by Train near Illinois Avenue and Diana Street

 
FRESNO, CA (May 10, 2021) – Francisco Medina Roman was hit and killed by a train early Friday morning in downtown Fresno.
 
The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on May 7, near Illinois Avenue and Diana Street. Investigators said the man stood on the tracks while the train approached and as the conductor blared the horn.
 
The 40-year-old victim suffered fatal injuries after the crash and died at the scene, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
 
The BNSF train stopped after it happened. Train service did not resume for several hours while police and the train company investigated the accident.
