Pedestrian Killed in Accident on 5 Freeway near 14 Freeway Interchange in Newhall Pass

 
NEWHALL PASS, CA (July 4, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed in an accident on 5 Freeway on Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 2 at about 3:40 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a vehicle hit the pedestrian near the 14 Freeway interchange.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
However, it is unknown whether the driver of the vehicle remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Responders closed all northbound 5 Freeway lanes to make way for an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
