Fatal Stolen Vehicle Accident on 280 Freeway after Driver Crashes into Tree in Millbrae

 
MILLBRAE, CA (July 4, 2022) – A man was killed in a stolen vehicle accident on 280 Freeway on Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 2 at about 4:20 p.m. Due to unknown circumstances, a carjacked 2012 Volkswagen crashed into a tree near the Trousdale Drive exit.
 
The impact of the collision caused the Volkswagen to burst into flames.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers ask witnesses or anyone with information to call Officer D. Ocampo at (650) 779-2730.
