Babysitter Eligia Morales and Toddler Julian Ros Fatally Struck in Riverside Pedestrian Accident

RIVERSIDE, CA (March 18, 2022) — A 2-year-old boy and his babysitter were tragically struck and killed while crossing a street in Riverside on Tuesday, March 15.

Police identified the babysitter as 53-year-old Eligia Del Rosario Morales and the toddler as Julian Ros.

According to the authorities, the crash occurred at around 3:50 p.m. near Hayes Street and Roosevelt Street.

The initial investigation determined that a 46-year-old driver of a blue 2020 Range Rover traveled westbound on Hayes Street. After that, she turned onto Roosevelt Street and hit Morales, Julian and his 7-year-old sister Margerita.

The group was walking back from school after Margerita’s math tutoring when the incident happened.

Morales and Ros died at the scene.

As a result, Margerita suffered minor injuries. After that, medics rushed the little girl to the hospital, where she has already been released.

Riverside Police say the driver did stop after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation.

It does not appear drugs, alcohol, or speed played a factor in this crash. However, police are continuing the investigation.
