Edgar Guzman-Tenangueno, Jose-Mendoza-Menjivar Dead, Jessica Velasco Hospitalized in Wrong-Way Crash on Blanco Road at Hitchcock Road

 
SALINAS, CA (November 2, 2023) — Edgar Guzman-Tenangueno and Jose-Mendoza-Menjivar died in a wrong-way crash on Blanco Road at Hitchcock Road Halloween night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-car crash happened before midnight Tuesday. For an unknown reason, 30-year-old Edgar Guzman-Tenangueno was driving his 2001 Chrysler Sebring the wrong way in the westbound lane. Subsequently, the eastbound Chrysler struck a westbound 2021 Honda Civic head-on.
 
Moments later, paramedics responded to tend to the injured. However, they found Edgar Guzman-Tenangueno and the Honda driver, 21-year-old Jose-Mendoza-Menjivar, with fatal injuries.
 
A 21-year-old Honda passenger — Jessica Velasco, of Salinas — survived the accident and received care at Natividad Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
 
At this time, authorities do not know if alcohol played a part in the crash, which closed Blanco Road in both directions for three hours. However, they will look into the details further.
