25-Year-Old Driver Fatally Struck by Vehicle that Ran Red Light in Hyde Park Neighborhood

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 18, 2024) – A 25-year-old driver died after his vehicle was struck by a speeding vehicle on Crenshaw Boulevard, late Tuesday evening.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened on April 16, at about 11:15 p.m. A speeding black BMW SUV reportedly ran the red light and crashed into the side of a gray sedan near West Florence Avenue.
 
The impact of the collision caused the SUV to spin out of control.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the sedan dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
As per reports, the SUV driver remained at the scene. Officers later arrested the SUV driver, whose name remains unknown.
 
LAPD continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
