Driver Fatally Injured in Truck Accident on Highway 101 near Capitol Expressway

 
SAN JOSE, CA (May 10, 2022) — A man suffered fatal injuries following a truck accident on Highway 101 on Sunday, May 8.
 
According to California Highway Patrol officer Ross Lee, the crash happened at around 6:15 a.m. on Highway 101 north of Capitol Expressway.
 
A 43-year-old man drove southbound in a blue Lexus on 101 in the right lane. After that, the man approached a white box truck in the same lane, which was stopped due to heavy traffic. The Lexus subsequently crashed into the back of the truck.
 
According to reports the Lexus driver drove at a “high rate of speed” and could not stop in time.
 
Medics rushed the driver of the Lexus with major injuries to Regional Medical Center, where he died at about 10:00 a.m., Lee said. Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity.
 
There were no reports of other injuries.
 
Officials closed two rightmost lanes of southbound 101 for two hours during the investigation.
