Police Seek Hit-and-Run Suspect Dillon Carmelo after Redding Car Crash

 
REDDING, CA (September 27, 2022)Dillon Carmelo is wanted in a hit-and-run crash in Redding on Friday afternoon, September 23.
 
The crash happened around 1:11 p.m. on North Market Street at Benton Drive. According to the Redding Police Department, a 2016 Nissan sedan and a 2017 Chevrolet pickup truck collided at the intersection in unclear circumstances.
 
After the crash, the 51-year-old suspect from Redding fled the scene on foot. He was the driver of the Chevrolet. Carmelo jumped over a cinderblock wall onto the property of Turtle Bay School. He continued on foot and left the campus.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the driver of the Nissan to Mercy Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
 
A Redding Police K-9 and with assistance from the CHP helicopter conducted an extensive search. However, Carmelo was not located.
 
Police is actively seeking Carmelo for felony hit and run. They urged anyone with information to contact them at 530-225-4200
