MADERA, CA (April 26, 2022) Destiny Salinas, Danielle Mesta, Edgar Garza Jr. and Jovonie Gonzales died in a head-on accident on Highway 41 near Highway 145 earlier this month on April 8.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-car crash happened just before midnight. For unknown reasons, two cars – described as a four-door Honda Accord and a possible two-door Scion tC – collided on Highway 41.

Due to the impact, the cars ruptured into flames. All four people — identified as 16-year-old Salinas, 33-year-old Mesta, 28-year-old Garza and 30-year-old Gonzales — from both vehicles died at the scene.

It took investigators about two weeks to identify the four victims as their bodies had burned beyond clear recognition following the crash.

In the investigation, authorities learned that each car carried two people. However, they have not confirmed the drivers in each.

At this time, an investigation into the leading cause of this accident should confirm any unclear information. If anyone has more information, please reach out to investigators.
