Darrien Molvig Arrested after DUI Motorcycle Crash on Highway 49 in Tuolumne County

 
TUOLUMNE COUNTY, CA (April 18, 2024) – Two people sustained injuries in a motorcycle accident on Highway 49, Friday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on April 12, at about 7:00 p.m. A northbound 2021 Harley Davidson reportedly made an unsafe turning movement and overturned near the Montezuma Junction.
 
The impact ejected the rider, identified as 30-year-old Darrien Molvig, and his passenger, 21-year-old Amber Caldwell, from the motorcycle. A private party later transported the victims to Adventist Health Sonora. As per reports, Molvig and Caldwell sustained moderate injuries.
 
Investigators determined that Molvig was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Authorities then arrested him for felony DUI.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
