33-Year-Old Woman Dies after Hit by Pickup Truck in Homeland

 
HOMELAND, CA (June 15, 2023)Carrie Walrath was hit and killed by a pickup truck in Homeland Monday evening on June 12.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:35 p.m. on Highway 74 near Highland Palm Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, Walrath was attempting to cross the four-lane corridor from south to north, where there is no crosswalk, when a 2002 Ford F-250 approached, traveling roughly 55 mph.
 
Walrath walked directly into the path of the pickup truck and was hit.
 
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics responded and tried saving Walrath, but she died at the scene.
 
The victim was a 33-year-old Homeland resident.
 
The driver, a 21-year-old Hemet man, was unharmed. He stayed on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
An investigation is ongoing. The CHP’s Temecula office asked anyone with further information to contact them at 951-506-2000.
