Bubacarr Kora Fatally Injured in Police Chase Accident on Highway 101 near 10th Street

SAN MIGUEL, CA (July 27, 2022) — A 23-year-old man identified as Bubacarr Kora died following a police pursuit crash on Monday, July 4.

According to Sgt. Steve Warzee, Kora drove a silver SUV south on Highway 101 at a high rate of speed when the incident happened.

CHP Officer Patrick Seebart, a Cal Fire arson investigator, initiated a traffic stop on Kora for speeding in Monterey County. That led to a police pursuit.

Cal Fire chased the driver into San Luis Obispo County. Responding CHP units were positioned to take over the pursuit. However, it didn’t happen because for an undetermined reason, the vehicle crashed, Seebart said. The SUV went over the median. Then it careened off Highway 101 onto the east shoulder of the roadway.

After that, the vehicle rolled down an embankment and landed on its roof behind Gallo Winery near the 10th Street exit at around 1:30 p.m.

Seebart said Kora allegedly died by suicide while Cal Fire was following him.

Friends created a GoFundMe page for Kora’s funeral expenses and his younger disabled brother, Yusupha, whom Kora cared deeply.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bubacarr Kora.
