52-Year-Old Man Hit by Big Rig on Highway 101 near Washington Street in Petaluma

 
PETALUMA, CA (July 27, 2022) – A 52-year-old man sustained serious injuries after he was hit by a big rig on Highway 101 on Tuesday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 26 at about 12:20 p.m. A southbound big rig reportedly entered the left exit lane at Washington Street.
 
As the driver turned left, the trailer of the truck hit a man who had been sitting on the side of the off-ramp.
 
Emergency crews transported the victim to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not release the name of the victim.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the big rig remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
