8-Year-Old Boy Hospitalized after Bicycle Accident on Coto de Caza Drive in Orange County

 
ORANGE COUNTY, CA (September 2, 2022) – An 8-year-old boy sustained serious injuries in a bicycle accident on Coto de Caza Drive on Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on September 1 at about 7:25 a.m. An eastbound 1999 Ford F-150 reportedly attempted to turn left onto northbound Coto de Caza Drive.
 
Then, the pickup truck collided with the young bicyclist near Oso Parkway.
 
Emergency crews rushed the boy to Mission Hospital, where he was scheduled to undergo surgery.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
CHP ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the collision. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
