Carlos Hill Jr. Arrested after Street Racing Crash; Andrew Lockner, Anthony Gaston and 2-Year-Old Dead
OROVILLE, CA (May 21, 2021) – Oroville CHP arrested a 19-year-old man after a street racing crash that killed two men and a 2-year-old girl Thursday, April 29.
Authorities responded shortly after noon to a major rollover collision on Lincoln Boulevard and Bagget-Marysville Road. The Oroville CHP determined the driver of a Jeep Cherokee was involved in a speed contest with a Chevrolet Camaro just moments before the crash.
Three of the four occupants in the Jeep Cherokee died at the scene. Police identified the Jeep driver as 30-year-old Anthony Gaston of Oroville. The passenger in the Jeep as 18-year-old Andrew Lockner of Oroville. The third victim was identified as a 2-year-old girl who had suffered major injuries, but later died from her injuries.
The 4-year-old child, the fourth occupant in the Jeep Cherokee, needed an airlift to UC Davis Hospital. Authorities say she sustained critical injuries.
The Chevrolet Camaro was driven by 19-year-old Carlos Hill Jr. of Oroville. CHP Officers later located Hill and detained him for his involvement. Officials arrested Hill and booked him into the Butte County Jail for 10 felony violations, including three charges of vehicular manslaughter, driving without a license, and illegal speed contest, CHP said.
