Alberto Covarrubias Killed in Car Accident on Highway 152 [Merced County, CA]

Alberto Covarrubias Dead, Lisa Rueckheim Injured in Merced County Car Crash on Highway 152

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (September 4, 2023) – Authorities identified 26-year-old Alberto Guerrero Covarrubias as the man killed in a car accident on Highway 152, Tuesday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on August 29, at about 5:40 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, Covarrubias failed to stop at a posted stop sign.
 
Then, his southbound 2003 Honda Accord T-boned a westbound 2020 Buick Encore at Turner Island Road.
 
Emergency responders pronounced Covarrubias dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Buick driver, identified as 38-year-old Lisa Rueckheim, and her 12-year-old passenger sustained injuries.
 
Rueckheim and her passenger were transported to a Modesto hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
