17-year-old Albert Cruz and 18-year-old Sergio Martinez Dead, Alexander Marquez Detained in Palmdale Hit-and-Run

 
PALMDALE, CA (February 8, 2021) — Albert Cruz and Sergio Martinez were killed in a hit-and-run accident at 10th Street and Avenue O 8 on January 30.
 
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the deadly accident happened around 10:22 p.m.
 
Inferring from the evidence, detectives believe that a black 2015 Chrysler 200 drove through a red light at the intersection. The Chrysler, driven by William Alexander Marquez, subsequently crashed into a westbound dark gray 2018 Honda Civic.
 
As a result of the impact, the Honda occupants—17-year-old Cruz and 18-year-old Martinez—died despite having received life-saving efforts.
 
Following the crash, 34-year-old Marquez fled the scene prior to police officers’ arrival. However, late Friday morning, Marquez surrendered to police before posting $50,000 bond.
