SONOMA, CA (February 8, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in a tree trimming truck accident on Grove Street, Thursday afternoon.
 
According to the Sonoma Valley Fire District, the incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a private tree-trimming truck and trailer rig lost control. Then, the truck slammed into a tree near Westerbeke Ranch.
 
The impact of the crash caused the truck to overturn, spilling approximately 30 gallons of diesel fuel.
 
Firefighters had to extricate the driver, who became entangled with the vehicle’s structural membrane.
 
A REACH helicopter transported one occupant to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate to major injuries. Meanwhile, a ground ambulance transported the second victim to Sonoma Valley Hospital. As per reports, both victims are expected to recover.
 
Responders closed Grove Street until 9:00 p.m. to make way for clearing operations.
 
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
