91-Year-Old Man Dies in Bicycle Accident on San Juan Grade Road near Boronda Road [Salinas, CA]

Elderly Bicyclist Involved in Fatal Accident on San Juan Grade Road in Salinas

 
SALINAS, CA (September 13, 2021) – Police confirmed that a 91-year-old man died in a bicycle accident on San Juan Grade Road on September 9.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the intersection of Boronda Road.
 
Based on reports, the victim was traveling on San Juan Grade at the time of the crash. When he approached the intersection, he turned directly in front of a vehicle that was approaching him from behind. Then, the vehicle struck his bike.
 
As a result, the elderly suffered severe injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported him to the hospital. Later on, he died in the intensive care unit. Officials did not release his identity pending kin notification.
 
At this point, the Salinas Police Department is still investigating the incident.
