4-Year-Old Dies in Fresno County Car Crash on 15 Freeway

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (March 25, 2021) — A 4-year-old was killed in a car accident on the 15 Freeway near Highway 138 Tuesday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 7:58 p.m. in the Cajon Pass. For unknown reasons, a 2014 Hyundai sedan became involved in a solo-car accident. After the car came to a rest near the center median in the No. 1 lane, a driver in a 2020 Ford Explorer stopped to help.
 
Subsequently, an oncoming driver in a 2016 Kia sedan struck the Hyundai, which collided with the Ford Explorer parked in front of it. As a result, a 4-year-old passenger in the Ford sustained severe injuries.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and transferred the girl to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where she died hours later.
 
At this time, officers have ruled out DUI as a possible source of the accident. However, other details, such as the liabilities and the Kia driver’s speed prior to the crash, remain unclear.
