4 Hospitalized in DUI Car Crash on Highway 101 in Gaviota

 
GAVIOTA, CA (April 15, 2024) — Four people suffered minor to moderate injuries in a DUI car accident on Highway 101 near Mariposa Reina.
 
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the drunk driving accident happened around 1:00 a.m. Thursday. For DUI reasons, two vehicles collided, sending one car near the center median and the other one blocking the left lane. Subsequently, AMR ambulances arrived to find two vehicles with major damage. Upon assessing the victims, paramedics found four patients with minor to moderate injuries. Paramedics took them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
 
Following the crash, police arrested one driver on suspicion of DUI. However, they did not release the person’s name. If anyone has additional insight into this collision, please call the CHP.
