3 Hurt in 2-Car Crash on 5 Freeway in Cottonwood

 
COTTONWOOD, CA (October 10, 2023) — Three people were injured in a 2-car accident on the 5 Freeway at Sunset Hills Drive.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-car crash happened on October 9 around 2:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a Kia sedan collided with a Jeep Wrangler SUV on the 5 South Freeway. As a result of the impact, both vehicles came to a stop on the southbound center median of the freeway.
 
Shortly thereafter, paramedics called a helicopter to airlift the female driver the Jeep Wrangler to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Two Kia occupants, a male and a female, suffered minor injuries and were taken by ground ambulance.
