2 Union Pacific Employees Die, Train Crash with Equipment near Bombay Beach

 
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (September 9, 2022) — Two Union Pacific employees died in Thursday’s train accident involving equipment near Bombay Beach at the Salton Sea.
 
According to Union Pacific spokesman Mike Jaixen, the fatal incident happened at approximately 3:00 a.m. north of Bombay Beach. The two unidentified Union Pacific employees operating the train entered a siding where it collided with a piece of equipment.
 
The two died in the incident, and their names have yet to be released.
 
As of now, Union Pacific is working with the National Transportation Safety Board to identify what led to the crash that caused the derailment of seven train cars.
