Afternoon DUI Crash on 5 Freeway in French Camp Leaves One Passenger Dead

 
FRENCH CAMP, CA (March 3, 2024) – One person died and another one was injured after a DUI crash on 5 Freeway in French Camp Saturday afternoon on March 2.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:32 p.m. just south of Matthews Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling northbound on the freeway when it crashed into a power pole.
 
As a result of the crash, one of the passengers in the vehicle died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
Another passenger was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
Police arrested the driver for DUI.
 
An investigation is underway.
