One Dead in Traffic Crash on Highway 198 [Visalia, CA]

Fatal Traffic Accident on Highway 198 and Mooney Boulevard

 
VISALIA, CA (June 29, 2022) — One died in a traffic crash on Highway 198 and Mooney Boulevard on Tuesday, June 28.
 
The fatal accident happened at around 3:45 p.m. near Highway 198 involving a Caltrans water tanker.
 
According to the CHP, a sedan crashed into the back of the Caltrans truck parked on the shoulder. The female sedan driver subsequently died at the scene.
 
Officials closed several eastbound lanes on the right side of Highway 198 as crews cleared the roadway. Eastbound traffic is backed up to Akers Street.
 
The CHP said they have not yet determined why the woman veered off the highway onto the shoulder.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. However, there is no other information available.
