Early Morning Two-Car Accident on 10 Freeway in West Covina Ends in Fatality

 
WEST COVINA, CA (May 11, 2022) – Mariah Beltran was killed in a two-car accident on 10 Freeway in West Covina, early Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 1:22 a.m. on May 7 at the intersection with Holt Avenue. CHP officials Beltran was a passenger in a 2006 Saturn Vue that was traveling on the westbound freeway.
 
The Saturn’s driver, 22-year-old Carlos Rivas of Los Angeles, lost control of the car for unknown reasons and collided with a 2018 Honda Accord driven by a 47-year-old Los Angeles woman. The impact caused the Saturn to overturn.
 
Responding paramedics rushed Beltran and Rivas to Pomona Valley Hospital, where Beltran died from major internal injuries.
 
Rivas was treated for moderate injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Accord only sustained minor injuries.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident.
