Police Arrest Seal Beach Couple after Striking and Leaving the Pedestrian Dead on PCH in Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (December 21, 2021) – Police arrested Daniel Burch and Kimberly Burch after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway Sunday night.

The crash happened around 6:41 p.m. on December 19, near 24th Street. Police said Daniel, a 37-year-old Surfside resident, was driving a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with his wife Kimberly, 39. The couple struck a male pedestrian in unclear circumstances.

First responders found the pedestrian, a 66-year-old man, lying in the roadway. They attempted saving him, but he died at the scene.

While police were still on scene, Kimberly told officers that she was the driver who struck the victim. Later, investigators determined that her husband was the driver.

Police arrested both and took them into custody. They booked Daniel on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in death, and Kimberly of being an accessory to the crime.

The couple have since bailed out of the Huntington Beach jail.

The Huntington Beach Police Department is still investigating the incident. They asked anyone who saw the crash to call investigators at 714-536-5670 or 714-536-5231.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
