1 Hospitalized after Big Rig Accident on 5 Freeway [Sacramento, CA]

Driver Hurt after Amazon Big Rig Accident on 5 Freeway near Cosumnes River Boulevard

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (December 20, 2021) – A driver sustained injuries in a big rig accident on 5 Freeway near Cosumnes River Boulevard, early Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 16, shortly after 3:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, an Amazon big rig and a Kia Soul collided in the northbound lanes of 5 Freeway.
 
Emergency crews transported the Kia driver to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Amazon truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. As per reports, the truck driver did not sustain injuries.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
