Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Willow Street in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (October 19, 2021) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Willow Street and Myrtle Avenue Sunday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:50 p.m. on October 17, near Signal Hill. According to the Long Beach Police Department, the man was crossing southbound in an unmarked crosswalk when a red sedan struck him.
 
After hitting the victim, the driver fled the scene and did not return.
 
Responding emergency crews rushed the man to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of his family members.
 
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol, drugs, or speed played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
