Mother Wendy Palma Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Playa Del Rey, Child Hospitalized

PLAYA DEL REY, CA (September 13, 2021) – Wendy Galdamez Palma died and her 3-year-old son sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Vista Del Mar in Playa del Rey Saturday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:33 p.m. in the 8800 block of Vista Del Mar. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the 33-year-old victim from Downey was cradling her son while crossing the street, when a Toyota 4Runner struck her. The driver of the SUV then fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Responding officers pronounced Palma dead at the scene. The victim was married with two children, ages 3 and 4.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the child to an area hospital in an unknown condition.
 
This fatal crash remains under investigation. Authorities urged witnesses to call the LAPD’s West Traffic Division at 213-473-0022.
