Mother Wendy Palma Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver Darwin Dantzler in Playa Del Rey

 
PLAYA DEL REY, CA (September 20, 2021) – Wendy Galdamez Palma died while her 3-year-old son sustained injuries in a hit-and-run on Vista Del Mar on Saturday, September 11.
 
Police finally located the hit-and-run suspect. 39-year-old Darwin Jamal Dantzler was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department, inmate records show. He was released from custody roughly three hours later after posting a $50,000 bail.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:33 p.m. in the 8800 block of Vista Del Mar. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the 33-year-old victim from Downey was with her son while crossing the street. However, they were hit by a Toyota 4Runner.
 
The driver – later identified as Dantzler – fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Responding officers pronounced Palma dead at the scene. The victim was married with two children, ages 3 and 4.
 
Paramedics rushed her child to a hospital and is expected to be OK. According to a GoFundMe page set up for the family, Palma was cradling her son when she died, saving his life.
 
Authorities urged witnesses to call the LAPD’s West Traffic Division at 213-473-0022.
