Deadly South LA Crash at 85th and Alameda Streets Involves Car and Big Rig

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (July 28, 2021) – Two people were killed in a traffic accident at 85th Street and Alameda Street late Monday evening.
 
The accident happened around 10:00 p.m. on July 26, in the Florence-Firestone area of South LA. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle was traveling in the area when it slammed into a big rig for unknown reasons. The impact partially wedged the car underneath the big rig.
 
Officers responded and located two people in the car with severe injuries. One of them died at the scene, while the other died at the hospital.
 
Video from the scene shows a child’s car seat in the wreckage but officers said the child was not in the car at the time of the crash.
 
This fatal crash remains under investigation. It is unclear is speed or intoxication was a factor.
