Elderly Man Walking a Bicycle Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto

MODESTO, CA (July 21, 2021) – A bicyclist died in a hit-and-run crash near Yosemite Boulevard and La Loma Avenue on Monday evening.

The fatal crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on July 19. Police said an elderly man was walking a bicycle northbound through a crosswalk, but against a red crossing signal, when a silver sedan struck him.

After the crash, the sedan continued westbound leaving the bicyclist with major injuries.

Responding officers arrived to find the man lying in the roadway. They attempted saving him, but he died at the scene.

At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large.
