Fatal Accident at Emery Street and West MacArthur Boulevard

EMERYVILLE, CA (July 21, 2021) – One person died and two others sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident at Emery Street and West MacArthur Boulevard on July 17.

Around 10:05 p.m. on Saturday, CHP officials responded near the 580 Freeway off-ramp. When they arrived, they located two vehicles with major damage. Several first responders worked to rescue the occupants inside their vehicles.

Despite life-saving efforts, one person died at the scene. The identity of the deceased was not immediately available.

Paramedics took two other people to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

After the crash, crews shut down the 580 Freeway off-ramps for several hours overnight.

At this time, the California Highway Patrol is still piecing together the events leading up to the crash.
