One Person Dead in Sun Valley Car Crash with Tree on 5 Freeway

 
SUN VALLEY, CA (April 12, 2021) — One person died after a van crashed into a tree off the 5 Freeway near Sunland Boulevard Saturday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 11:55 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a gray van slammed into a tree on the southbound freeway.
 
Soon after, firefighters and paramedics arrived to extricate the victim, who died shortly after.
 
A Sigalert was issued at 12:12 p.m. closing the numbers three and four lanes of the southbound freeway for at least two hours, the CHP said.
 
At this time, authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident. However, if anyone has more information on this crash, please contact police officers.
