Man Dies in Lucerne Valley Head-On Crash on Highway 247

LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (April 9, 2021) — One man died in a head-on accident on Highway 247 near Selmadolph Street Wednesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened around 7:10 p.m. For reasons that require more investigation, a 40-year-old Carson man traveling southbound veered into the northbound lane. As a result, the 2002 Chevy pickup truck collided head-on with a northbound 2020 Peterbilt.

Due to the impact, the double tanker Peterbilt overturned with one of the tankers severing from the main cab. When authorities arrived, they found debris from the collision strewn across the highway and the Chevy driver deceased on arrival.

As authorities investigated the scene, paramedics transported the 47-year-old driver of the big rig to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

At this time, the crash requires more investigation by the CHP. However, anyone with more information should contact the department.
